The nominees for the 60th GRAMMY Awards, set to take place in New York on January 28 2018, have been announced. With a total of 84 awards, the ceremony will celebrate all kinds of musical genres, from pop to RnB, country to classical.
Leading the pack is JAY-Z with eight nominations, closely followed by Kendrick Lamar with seven. Bruno Mars has received six nominations, whilst SZA is the most nominated female, receiving five nominations.
There is a definite shift in terms of diversity amongst the nominations this year, with hip hop and urban music taking centre stage across the main categories. Additionally, for the first time in 19 years, the Album of the Year category does not feature any white males. Childish Gambino, Lorde, Kendrick Lamar, JAY-Z and Bruno Mars will compete for the gong, with the likes of Ed Sheeran being snubbed for the top award.
